That was magical, thank you so much.

God I'd love for Letterman to come back and do that again. Too bad he'd never invest that much time in anything again.

Isn't this just everyone's polite way of saying, "I wouldn't be caught dead reading some hackneyed shit Bruce Vilanch wrote"?

My God, quick someone get George Carlin and the Grim Reaper. No time to explain!

I got what they were going for, I think that's still very problematic because that's how a lot of people regard bisexuality - a made up thing people talk about to sound cool (see a certain shitty advice columnist syndicated on this Web site). It gives people an excuse to be dismissive of how one chooses to

@avclub-6997a8bd0e1042b70b60c5c879a1780e:disqus Yeah, that's a point of fact. The CIA disclosed unprecedented access to Bohl and Bigelow, while Argo's story was already declassified. You don't think that makes it implicitly more involved and invested? That doesn't mean Greenwald favors Argo and it doesn't mean the CIA

I'm not sure what Argo winning has to do with Greenwald's case against Zero Dark Thirty, he choose to write about one and not the other. Probably because one has more immediacy to the sort of things he likes to write about. I guess that's a bias, but not an unfair one. Let a writer who specializes in Iranian politics

@avclub-88d2059e0f2b4081d9d9d86ea49a3410:disqus No it's a real quote, it's just slightly rewritten, maybe to suit Jackson's inflection. From KJV:

@Big_Knife:disqus Who wouldn't care about all those colorful characters we've come to know and love? There's arthritic elderly lady, pink shirt, backwards cap…

Well Bibles are exactly the same if they're the same translation. I assume King James is default, especially if you're going for the most grandiose literary quality, but I didn't bother to check Hershel and Merle's quotes.

I want the excuses for her nudity to become increasingly convoluted and without purpose to the point that she's literally rubbing her crotch in the face of her critics. If only for my amusement. Troll on, Dunham, troll on.

Yeah, this also tends to happen when they have people are who aren't actually involved in the show and don't feel a need to pull punches.

Is there a worse cliche than two rival characters trading bible verse?

I don't really think the Talking Dead is bad (it's fine in the background especially when they have funny people who are creatively detached as they did tonight), but it's very hindered by an inability to actually be critical of the show.

From Talking Dead last night:

Now I kinda want all the factions to just start "deploying" Andrea like a self-sabotaging time bomb on other groups, telling her they want her to go "smooth things over." All the while Andrea skips through the woods shouting "I'm helping!"

Let's be honest, you won't find someone who looks like that and is self-aware.

I wouldn't even say it's a "hip" thing. New York's got this pay by the pound BBQ joint and they serve cafeteria style which means, yes, communal seating. And the tone is basically a shitkicker type environment but kitschy and in the heart of the financial district, about as far as you can get from Portlandia.

@avclub-b0dae075785888267fc19871f3e7dab7:disqus To be fair I liked The Hurt Locker when I saw it too, not sure how I'd feel if I saw it again.

And even in these contexts, doing something "nice" really just means "ceasing to do something really really shitty."
