Oh, well allow me to retract my flippant "who gives a fuck?" remark. I haven't actually heard the reformed band, where does it fall on the AC/DC to The Doors scale?

Alright, so obviously this sounds shitty for artists when you talk about 21 cents for thousands of plays, but the long view no one seems to be taking is that musicians are really being dicked over by a shitty business model more than anything. It'd be like a painter expecting their income from mass marketed postcard…

To question three: Lead singer died, I think they tried reforming with another guy later but really who gives a fuck? I'll actually say they were the rare case of a one-hit wonder who's whole catalog is pretty good.

Slate doing the New York Times Style Section? Christ, this sounds like a perfect storm of overly-forced hack journalism. I thought Mitchell and Webb would have put these extreme high-concept authors in their place:

Also how he immediately stepping up the moment Rick went awol and was already a noticeably better leader cause he didn't dick around pondering bullshit and brooding in a cowboy hat.

I'm not defending new Simpsons, but I'm really not clear what the continuity crowd wants in this case. It's a family that hasn't aged in 20+ years, there's no solution that's not gonna fuck with the continuity. Are you going to pretend it's still 1992 or whatever? Then you can't make any remotely modern pop culture…
