Okay, I'll play the part of incurable optimist, at least for a few minutes:

You owe it to yourself to watch the first fifteen minutes.  As I usually tell people: it's like watching an extraterrestrial's approximation of a movie, where all the pieces are technically there, but they're all wrong and they make no sense as put together.  The script is odd.  The actors (who are native speakers of

The creator of the format, Steve Wilhite, pronounces it "jiff".  He's wrong: hard G forever!

Here's how the link to this article appears on the front page:

Minority opinion: but if I'd started with Crying, I never would have moved on (I hated it so much).  Fortunately I started with Gravity's Rainbow and did move on from there.

@sharculese:disqus : I love the opening, and I also love the parody of it in the opening of Mason & Dixon (trading rockets for snowballs).

Gravity's Rainbow ranking thread: best to worst things!

I'm going to pretend I didn't just search all his books for the word "fap".

"I'm still getting residuals for Jaws: the Revenge?"

Oof this was a lousy movie, and Ignatiy isn't joking about the opening ten minutes, which are the worst thing Shyamalan has ever put to film - yes, worse than The Last Airbender, worse than killer trees, worse than Mel Gibson.

@Scrawler2:disqus : next on Tyler Perry Presents: The Doctor Who Prays Together: Doctor Who slut-shames the Daleks into submission, while the Doctor's companions find AIDS and Jesus, respectively.

It's also one of my favorite episodes for the Weir parents, trying to negotiate a really difficult position of wanting to protect their own children in the face of a set of bad parents, kids with bad habits, etc. without coming off as judgmental in front of the other kids.  It's a really tricky episode, and I love it.

I'd have much preferred to see him making out with Matt Damon.  No offense to Mr. Douglas.

I'd like to think a "Hardy booster" is something I need to have done regularly, like a vaccine.

I'm at least glad to see someone else putting "Kim Kelly Is My Friend" in their top five… For a minute I thought that episode wouldn't get any other love.   I echo Todd above that the fundamental niceness of everyone is what makes this show so special, but I appreciate this episode for showing that even nice people

Kevin Corrigan was so perfect there: he's always good when he's creepy, but creepy and a little older and capable of lashing out at people at any moment?  Yes yes yes.

It's my favorite Millie episode, without a doubt.  I had a hard time with the order of 3-7.

Oh god, yes.  For me it's almost anytime Bill gets screen time to himself: his Bionic Woman is one of the reasons I remember the Halloween episode so fondly (that and Mrs. Weir's crushing disappointment that no one eats her homemade treats, which is such a sign of the times.)
