More points: the reason he was out mingling in public was because he was helping coordinate a meetup for a foundation for children with cancer.   So, yeah.

And the nicest guy in real life.  I had a really great conversation with him a few years back, expected it to be a quick "Hey, I loved you in M.A.S.H.!", but he stuck around and chatted for a good half hour.

I know it's not a popular opinion (I got beaten up [verbally] for suggesting it in an REM thread a few years back), but "Daysleeper" remains one of my favorite songs in their whole catalogue.

That was a very long sigh.

I'll have to try the short stories.  I didn't care much for 2666 (the last part in particular), so I've been trying to decide whether and where to jump back into him.

Everyone's experience will be different, but for what it's worth: I originally graded this a B+, then rewatched the episode, then upped it to an A-.  This one's a grower.

In the pico household, we're used to taking random phrases and replying with "No, you're [random phrase]", so Bolin's comment felt way too close to home.  We'll be using that line in the future.

I actually have no problems with Mako at all, and I've been a little surprised to see people's dislike/anger/disappointment with him.  This post makes a lot of sense.

Meelo still thinks girls have cooties, which puts him in line with Mako/Bolin at the end of the episode, with their weary sigh about women.

The alternation between guzheng playing and jazz music is one of the best things about this show.

I guess one of the big differences is that (e.g.) you can be Peach in Super Mario 2, but you can't (and wouldn't want to be) April in the TMNT games, because your superpower would be "get captured".  Seriously… apart from the tournament fighting games, she's nearly always captured.

One of my favorite touches: Korra tries the Pema method to get closer to Mako, and it fails; then Bolin turns around and uses the same method on Korra, and she falls for it (probably just because of her emotional state at that moment, but still.)   I appreciate that they're not going so far into "tough girl" territory

Yeah, this is one case where I'm not too worried about verisimilitude - I'll buy a vocal-cord operation for a twist that devastating - although Zack's right that higher stakes would have made the sell more believable.  Still, even though I haven't rewatched this in a while, I remember it hitting me pretty hard the

I love this:

Yeah… I'm really happy with this interview, and imagined the whole thing spoken in a warm but smoky voice.  I'd almost go straight for her.

When I want to stay angry: Violet, "Hole".  Yeah, she's a mess, but that's a legitimately great anger-exorcism song.

Dear Bravo: can we have a spinoff that focuses on Jenna gossiping with Virginia?  I'd watch that before I'd watch most of your original programming.  Thanks!

I'm sad to say that that kept bothering me as well.

I think this was the parody, combining its plot with The Big Chill.

Nearly 700 comments, and no one's commented on the fact that this might be an extended parody of Return of the Secaucus Seven*/The Big Chill, from the opening funeral to the study group's nickname and notoriety.  To drape an extended Occupy parody across that was pretty ingenious.
