Spot on about what? It's almost a parody of the Angry Internet Commenter, especially the "you can't have opinions because you are beneath the artists you criticize" schtick.  Please don't encourage it, even if you agree with the general thrust.
There's only one line in Nugent's post that's a bit dismissive (how many

You should get out more.

Agreed, although probably not "bonk" per se.  More like… something along the lines of "s'enculer"?  Any experts in fin de siècle French slang?

I saw it on Saturday afternoon, and it was maybe a quarter filled.  Which is too bad.  It also meant everyone in the room could hear me laughing, loudly.

I know, right?

By the way, there's a really fantastic interview over at Kung Fu Magazine with Sifu Kisu, who's responsible for coordinating the various fighting styles of the two series.  Very informative, very detailed stuff.

Why not "Energy"?  Once Aang unlocks that ability he should be able to pass it on to new incarnations of himself.

It might be a good decision from a form/function standpoint: we can understand why the Gaang would waste time on goofy side adventures, but Korra doesn't seem like the "wacky, time-wasting nonsense" type.  If anything it looks like the big lesson in the first season will be convincing her not to rush headlong into

You know, it's worth watching the first ten or fifteen minutes, just to see what everyone's talking about.  It really does feel like the movie came from another planet, where actors have no knowledge of how human beings speak, and the usual grammar of film breaks down into barely coherent moments strung together for

@avclub-6956968b560a7eb499ca03a8b3b43189:disqus : why is it wrong to hope that someone who's shown tremendous talent in one field someday returns to it?   And where did you get the idea that "any career she takes that isn't showbiz is a tragedy"?  Don't put words in mouth, okay?

Yeesh.

Tasha, I'll agree with you while disagreeing on the angle: the problem isn't so much that Collins' books lack a compelling/believable backstory, but that the way she divvies out the information suggests that she hasn't thought it through very deeply until the moment she needs to insert a certain plot point or twist.

I don't think that third judge's slot has ever been well-filled.  For all the (justified) criticism Lil Mama takes for her inability to move beyond "You brought it" or "You didn't bring it", she has grown on me over the years, in part because of her enthusiasm, and in part because she has been improving.  Shane?… Not

Not at all.  It may come down to what you enjoy out of these routines, but I'm a sucker for the technical aspects - the setups, the transitions, the lines - all of which are designed strictly for the judges' perspective, too many of which fail to make it into the television cut.  We're only one episode into the new

I don't think a team has ever inspired me to rage like ICONic Boyz, which isn't really their fault, but the fault of (I assume) throngs of pre-teen girls who kept voting them back each episode.

You know what would improve this show greatly? (and I've been complaining about this since season one, so I don't think it'll ever change)

The internets tell me that she recently graduated from UC Berkeley.  Here's hoping she works her way back into the industry.

And don't forget Butters' (er… Mantequilla's) power over the people of Mexico.

Seconded on the awesomeness of Jessica Campbell.  Between tuba girl and Election, she nailed some kind of magic combination of humor, sarcasm, and vulnerability.
