Dear AV Club: preemptive notice here. In December, if I don't see this show way up in your list of the best TV shows of the year, I'm calling foul. I don't think there's a show that fills me with so much pure joy, week after week.
Thanks!

I'll add, though: as much as Michael Costello can be annoying, he gets points for that spot-on impression of Mizrahi. That was lovely.
Yeah, it's hard to add anything to the blurb: good challenge, boring runway, stupid mistakes. The show's just running on fumes right now.
Yeah, I'm not unaffiliated myself. I think I enjoyed it more for not pulling the punch.
Also: just really solid episode across the board, and I'm glad the climax involved the TGS nearly falling apart. It's great to remind us, from time to time, that these characters are actually employed.
"I could get her expelled, sent off to some second-rate boarding school, and then on to that last bastion of the incompetent: USC"
Syndromes and a Century was released in 2007, too. TIFF voted it best film of the decade. I have no complaints about that.
See, my problem with "Impossible Soul" is that it belongs on All Delighted People, in terms of theme, scope, instrumentation… everything. It's out of place on Adz. Make Adz the LP and ADP the EP, and all problems solved, and Adz is a perfect little album.
Yikes. I'm a big apologist for Age of Adz (which, apart from the last track, I'll defend as Stevens' best, most profound, and most musically interesting album), but this…. is hard to like.
I agree with everything you said except "well-crafted".
Bad: rape jokes, in general.
Worse: making an extended rape joke into a recurring segment on the show.
Worst: highlighting a rape joke from a recurring segment based around rape jokes in your review of the show,
I haven't seen "Nick of Time" in years, but I remember thinking that the machine really was just a random spouter of pre-canned replies, and that it's really a study in how human beings can grow obsessive when they think they're finding patterns in the chaos. Maybe the episode leans more heavily the other way - it…
@SimpsonsGoldenAge:disqus When you get a little older you'll find that sometimes people like different things, and that's okay.
No, "quick and snappy" refers to pacing, which has been a problem with the show this season: whether you found it funny or not, there was no fat here, and I'm thankful for that. As for the one-liners… I mean, that's always been 30 Rock's m.o., and while this wasn't a classic episode, I did enjoy it.
I dunno, I mostly enjoyed this. Quick and snappy, with just the right amount of silly. I mentioned a few episodes ago that, as weak as I thought this season had been (prior to Leap Day), Tina Fey's physical comedy has gotten better. So if anything, she's the least of what I'm worried about.
Yep, but it only takes a few years to seem hopelessly out of touch. "The Beach" feels like a middle school prom chaperon imitating a teenager. Spoiler: that chaperon was once a teenager, too.
I may be wrong, but I believe the film review policy was based on a limited word count because they appeared in the the print version, whereas the television reviews are just for online, so they can be longer.
C'mon now: "Ode to My Family" is a lovely song (and the only song of theirs I still have on my playlist.)
[SPOILERS CONTINUED] More importantly, the Squid isn't typical for a superhero comic, it's typical for a pirate comic, which is how Moore connects us reading his book to his characters' reading the book-within-a book, etc. I know that's getting a little esoteric, and was probably impossible to pull off in a…
Yeah, this was the best episode the show's done yet. It's still a far cry from 'good', but what a huge difference the self-contained story arc makes in a show this aimless. If the writing and acting were better we could afford to spend time looking for Sophia (I feel like "looking for Sophia" should be shorthand…
