Maybe January Jones isn't a great actress in general, but I think she's still really fucking good as Betty. Kiernan Shipka is, of course, also excellent.

I've liked a lot of the Coen bros' movies but honestly don't love many of them. Miller's Crossing is the first one of theirs that I really unabashedly enjoyed, but I have to rewatch a lot of them, particularly Fargo and No Country, to see if I can appreciate more the second time around.

I'll have to check that out. For someone who enjoys noir, I haven't gotten around to reading much of it. Really need to bone up on my Hammett and Raymond Chandler.

Hey! I also saw Miller's Crossing for the first time! Well, it was during the week rather than the weekend, but still…I loved it. Of course, I'm a sucker for good noir movies, and it was very satisfying on that level. Great cast and dialogue, loved the cinematography and the costumes. I really never suspected that

I think he'd treat her well, though, which is what I care about when it comes to a romantic partner for Joan. Of course, if he turns out to be some secret serial killer or something, that would probably change…

Thanks! I try to leave some thoughts/comments each week, but by the time I get around to it, there are always already a crapload of comments that people already posted. I'm always happy to know that someone took the time to read what I've written. Much appreciated!

I really enjoyed this episode, and while they may not be among the show's best ever, these past two episodes feel like season 6 is finally getting into a good rhythm.

Ugh, the annoying thing is that this news isn't the least bit surprising. ABC, you are the opposite of amahzing. To sort of quote Dave Rose, "Darkness reigns, hope gurgles out its dying breath. Thank you for giving us three delightful seasons of Happy Endings before crushing my the light of my life."

Ted weirds me out, and I'm not really sure why, because he hasn't done anything wrong or distasteful so far. I think it has something to do with his eyes or his voice or something…Also, I don't think they have any chemistry; I mean, I guess he seems "nice" enough, but it just doesn't feel right to me. I can't see them

I just find Henry really boring, which I guess is perhaps from the fact that, compared to everyone else on the show, he's pretty stable/well-adjusted, and I guess I never really saw him as a decent or likable person. Maybe it was how he and Betty got together or the fact that he's a politician or for a reason I know

- This episode was well-done and interesting enough, but it was really hard for me to get past the fact that they didn't bother to show the perspective of Dawn or anyone who is actually black. On one hand, I think I get what they were going for; the characters' reactions all went along the lines of how I imagine

There are already over a 1000 comments, but I'm trying to make an effort to post my thoughts every week, partly so I can sort through them for myself. Anyway, I don't actually have a lot to say about this episode, but here are a few notes:

/Still in mourning for The Hour

Why are you watching it then?

First, I'll say I liked this episode a lot, more than most people did, it would seem. So, some thoughts:

Betty was actually maybe my favorite character in the first season, but this was definitely the first time in a while where the writers gave her anything interesting/meaningful to do. I hope they expand on it during the rest of this season.

I didn't recognize her either. I guess I haven't really seen Linda Cardellini in anything other than Freaks and Geeks, so I wasn't prepared to see her looking like anything other than how she looked as Lindsay Weir.

I think one of the guys also kept calling her blondie.

I liked her in Moneyball, but I can see why the performance would've come off as annoying to a lot of people. I knew that the actress who played Sandy looked familiar, but I couldn't place her until I saw this (or rather the previous) post.

Probably no one will see this because there are already over 900 comments, but whatever. Here are some of my thoughts on the premiere:
