Have to admit I was one of the people unsatisfied with the explanation for his backstory, but I loved this callback as a reminder that they remember he existed. I was somewhat expecting him to be Donald, but this works too. And Kevin Corrigan was great. I'd love to see him get some bigger roles in movies and/or TV.

Yes, this is the amber timeline, the one where September didn't save Peter from drowning in Reiden Lake. I'll have to watch it again, since I'm not sure if the memories we see from Walter in the lab correspond to the current timeline or if any of them maybe had some from the original timeline.

That Monty Python homage was the weirdest thing ever, and I mean that in the best possible way. Also loved the ending montage of Walter remembering all the moments from his past surrounding Peter's death. God, John Noble is amazing.

For your second question, I imagined it was part of his transformation to full-on Observer, like a physical side-effect or a reaction that his body had, since I feel like it would make sense that putting foreign tech into your head might not go completely smoothly.

I wouldn't put it among the best of the show, but it might be my second or third favorite of this season so far ("An Origin Story" is still the best, IMO), and I enjoyed it a lot. The build-up of dread throughout the episode, particularly with Peter's storyline, was great, and man, the acting on this show is just so

I just largely disagree with what he thought of this episode, entirely separately of his grade.

I'm enjoying this direction a lot as well. Fringe has always been pretty optimistic, so I'm still expecting them to ultimately give us a pretty "happy" ending, but as you said, it's also not afraid to take its characters to some really painful places. And as dark as Fringe has gotten at times before, I don't think

I really liked those scenes. Sure, it covered some of the same ground that we went over last week, but I felt like those conversations still brought out some nuances that hadn't been touched on last week. I liked how they pulled on their shared history, and Blair Brown and John Noble were just so damn good.

I thought they'd take much longer to get him to full Observer mode, so I guess I didn't take issue with some of the repetitiveness of the episode nearly as much as Noel and others, in part because I expected to see even more of that. I think it might've been interesting to see Peter try to grapple with what he's done,
