Yeah but the two shows were pitted against each other in the culture wars of the 70s. SNL was the hip "counterculture" sketch show for cool people on the coasts while "The Carol burnett Show" was for the squares in flyover country.

I agree with this interpretation. But also I didn't notice them looking under the desk so much as just their usual nervous looks around etc. The joke is they think they have some real hot inside information so they're always scoping out their surroundings to make sure they aren't overheard.

Someone I respect greatly said it was a riff on the recent run of films Gosling has done with Director Nicholas Refn (Drive,Only God Forgives). I haven't seen them yet so I don't know for sure.

Yeah JJ isn't under Kilgrave's control at all anymore, it's more that she still suffers from PTSD and other after effects of having been under his control, of having suffered that total loss of self and the knowledge that she's done all these terrible things. Being under Kilgrave's control for any length of time is

Oh boy I can't wait until all the special snowflakes come by to say that THEY don't love Adele. They're not "everyone" you know! They're fascinatingly unique bold contrarians.

Her previous albums had a lot of material that didn't fit that description.

I admire your folks composure but I can't believe you put up with this dude for so long. I keep scrolling and scrolling and he's still there. He's obviously just a troll. I use "troll" not in the strict sense of "someone pretending to be someone they're not or arguing something they don't believe" but as "someone

That's an incredibly generous (to Trump) way of reading the post you link. But yes in a very narrow, technical sense he doesn't explicitly call for such a registry but says he is open to all sorts of similar measures.

Thank you all for bravely standing up for the right of uninformed morons to still pontificate about stuff they don't now anything about.

I really liked his approach to the monologue and thought it was the best thing he did all night. It was an actual, you know, monologue, not some contrived bit that ends with a song and dance number, not five minutes of stand up comedy, and I thought it was a fun (if not funny) story engagingly told. I'd rather watch

What a bizarre take on Colbert! Reynolds and Fonda are goddamn icons and are also very old. What's he supposed to do? Cross examine them? And that John Lydon song was awesome and I saw no slobbering. I do agree he's lost some of the edge in his political humor, as was to be expected from the losing the "Colbert"

There were a couple mid-tempo to uptempo, more lighthearted songs on her last album. It seems like this one is all ballads.

I saw an article kicking somewhere around these internets that this was the first time in the streaming era that two major, high budget shows on two different services have been released at the same time and will compete in the way of two big movies opening the same weekend or two TV shows airing opposite each other.

Well if we're looking at this at this level of detail then I'm surprised no one's brought up the most basic flaw (or at least most nonsensical aspect) of Nathan's method of beating traffic. Here I'm talking about Nathan (supposedly) using this as a way to get around LA faster before he thought to try to monetize it:

I mean why would they fake it though? The idea of having a bunch of adults naked (or even nearly naked) and simulating sex near a child (who's in a soundproof box at the time) is just as disturbing (and legally actionable?) as them actually having sex. These are people who have sex on camera for a living. Why wouldn't

No I don't think so. I mean they're porn performers right? They probably have all the right paperwork etc. I assumed he just paid them their normal rate (or maybe even a little more) and they went at it.

"It's about ethics in SNL recapping."

" but I get the feeling it could have been hilarious and still received the F" You get the feeling huh. Please bless us with more of these completely unprovable hypotheticals!

Hey now. Kabletown is a family company! (Except it's that Austrian family where the father . . .Lemon!)
