I'd compare the Pirates trilogy to the Matrix trilogy (I choose to ignore the existence of the 4th Pirates film).  The first one is a solid, pretty entertaining film.  The second one expands the universe and sets up a full trilogy arc.  It's not as good as the first, but it's still a farily entertaining, if incomplete…

I wish some of the more successful modern metal bands incorporated more trash into their music.  The newest All Shall Perish album has some good thrashy moments, particularly in "There is Nothing Left."

Master of Puppets is the definitive Metallica album, and probably the album that most modern metal bands cite as an influence.  But I'll be damned if Ride the Lightning isn't right there with it.
