I managed to get several friends to watch Fearless around '97-98 and every one of them loved it. Probably haven't seen it since then myself and the scene with the tool box as baby is still stuck with me.

I'm surprised Where The Day Takes You wasn't mentioned. Even my teenaged self thought the movie was too preachy but for only having seen the movie once (over 20 years ago) I still remember the scene with Sean Astin shooting up and ODing. Urgh.

Thanks for the reminder of that wreck of a finale. At least LeGros got out easy.

They shot a fair amount in Pittsburgh, believe it or not. And as far as how much they changed from the book to the movie, it wasn't anything like the rewrite that was done to Jurassic Park.

Never thought of it that way but makes perfect sense. And of course the CBN is still going today. Always good for a laugh or a jaw drop to the floor.

I grew up being told that KISS stood for "Knights In Satan's Service" but I had the non-denominational crazy fundamentalist religion vs. southern baptist, so maybe what it stands for breaks down according to region and religion.

There are a few changes between the book and movie of course, but IIRC they are relatively minor. I think the end in the movie is a bit more upbeat, it's been a while since I read the book or saw the movie. I happened to appreciate it simply because so much of Oakland/South Oakland is recognizable.
