Yes but Yeezus also wasn't well received. He isn't anywhere near as big as Kendrick (and they relatively started around the same time) or Drake. I love J. Cole but the fact that he performed at like iheartradio and there were tons of people who didn't know who he was, speaks volumes about his stature.

I'm not a big fan of Jay but come on.

Success or..? J. Cole is still largely unknown and hasn't had the success that he should have by now.

Very true. There's just not that many female emcees.

Yes. Dead on.

This question hurts so much as a female hip hop fan. The only important female rapper we ever had was Lauryn Hill. And I say was because we know she's never coming back.

It's what we call the phones from twilight zone.

Hm, yes now Jay is very..polished. I like to think that Jay is what would happen if Tony gave up that life and had that happy family in the suburbans.

He's discussing their careers more so than their album/themes though. If you listen to reasonable doubt in particular, you see how relevant it is to Tony. Of course, Rakim did pave the way for hip hop just like The Sopranos did with tv but this should go deeper than that.

Some of these are too debatable. I don't think anyone fits Breaking Bad and if we're talking about the man, it's almost insulting. Also, lol at avclub discussing hip hop.

Thank you. If he's talking about success, Nas is definitely The Wire, and if you're talking about themes, Nas is still The Wire. If I had to assign Jay to one, based on his themes, it would be The Sopranos. Reasonable Doubt sounds like the soundtrack to Tony Soprano.

I wasn't necessarily excusing Klaus' wrath but after what we've seen, they should have treaded lightly. They know how Klaus is, he's known to go after the people they care about. Not suggesting they should have rolled over but there could have been a different course of action.

People hate Hayley's character? How typical.

I can't believe I'm even defending Klaus in any manner because he was an annoyance to me but Klaus murdering Carol Lockwood (as sad and disturbing), he did it to make a statement. Didn't he? They screwed him over so Klaus screwed them right back.

Again, if you have a problem with one by logic you should have a problem with all.

HEY! We don't talk about Gus like that around my neck of the woods.

Now from this standpoint yes. If Klaus is just going to be one-note kind of evil, this show won't last long but I seriously doubt that's the case.

And more importantly, why does it make it okay or make you comfortable to watch antiheroes murder people in the name of family, even if we've been shown that sometimes that isn't true, but you're so shaken or distraught over a tv show taking an evil psychopathic serial killer and turning him into pretty much Damon and

I think a lot of you like to pretend that Damon and Stefan aren't equally as bad as Klaus because the show paints them as sympathetic characters. Or another popular theme, seems that everyone will admit the show's problem with morality but then indulge in picking sides between the brothers knowing full well both are

How dare you.
