While the look is similar to LBP, the game isn't. It's not based on player created content and it's a straight puzzle game rather than a platformer. There's a tight word count on reviews that are running in print, like this one, so I couldn't get into as much detail as I might want. But I wouldn't consider this game

Just for the record Mike R and The Gapper IGN, Game Informer and Eurogamer all also gave ilomilo very positive reviews. It sounds like this just isn't your type of game and that's fine. But if you like puzzle games this is a very good one.

I always got stuck with tank healer duty on Ragnaros so when he screamed "By fire be purged" at me during the first Hyjal quest I was upset that my first instinct was to run away and find a rock to hide behind.

Happy to help. I used to do reviews for a Chicago-area publication but it shut down its video game section due to budget cuts and I found a new home here.

I actually think your assessment of my tastes is pretty accurate. In general I tend to give As pretty sparingly and usually only to games that wow me. I like all of the ones you mentioned a good deal but I found all of them too flawed beyond the basic genre level to be deserving. The style and space constraints of

GhaleonQ: What makes you think I don't like dungeon crawlers?

I would say the storytelling and dialog were about on par with White Knight Chronicles, but with substantially worse dubbing. I found the overall game play much better than White Knight's though.

I didn't think so. But thanks!

Thanks! My next task is to catch up on all the other work I wasn't doing while I was playing StarCraft II this week. Also maybe to sleep. And shop for groceries. And go to the gym. And find the willpower to not just keep playing. Sigh.

Yep. Totally useless when you're worshiping her for anything but getting more piety. Just make sure you've got some piety padding before you start destroying glyphs. She really doesn't like that.

Another good trick for wizards is to make nice with the magic-loving goddess, spam your lowest mana spell for piety and buy all her gifts. Do that on a gnome or elf and you'll have the mana to blast almost anything.

I have resisted the temptation to create a shortcut to Desktop Dungeons on my computer. The idea is that having to seek it out each time I want to play again would make me play less. So far this isn't really true.

I actually really loved Kitchen Confidential and I'm sorry if that didn't come across well in this review. My main disappointment was how much I felt this book didn't live up to his previous excellent work. KC was an amazing look into a world I knew very little about and always fun to read. I just think that in the

Spike Jonze has actually already optioned it.

Ebert's piece disappoints me much more as a journalist than as a gamer. Essentially Ebert watched Kellee Santiago's speech and decided that without doing any further research into the subject he could refute her points and thereby validate his dismissal of an entire industry.
I don't expect Ebert to play video games.

sarCCastro: Actually one of the better sections of this game is a mock trial that's remarkably like playing Phoenix Wright.

It's never mentioned by name but the symptoms very strongly resemble Aspergers. She's anorexic.

I don't think I'd go that far. He has some great descriptions but this strikes me as a work that might be very close to him and unless further works also involve a lot of math, physics and social outcasts I'm not sure that he'd be able to inspire the same level of raw realism.

The touching does refer to relative primes like 3 and 5 or 11 and 13.

They are bound in servitude by the power of another god but still incredibly powerful beings.
