There is a small part of me that sides with Walt here and empathized with Walt's desire for vengeance when he nodded in agreement to allow the torture/murder.
Stealing her was part of his plan to save Skyler. By doing that, he ensured that Skyler would sell him out to to the police which in turn gave him a chance to make himself seem like the bad guy and Skyler as the pure victim (which of course she is not).
