Yep. Like, I know this article has a lot of valid points but I absolutely can not divorce those points from the fact that I watched Empire Records at a sleepover with my best friends when we were 13 and spent the night arguing over who our favorite store employee was (consensus was Lucas). We all decided we would work

It's the perfect summer watch, for me. It's definitely not funny and whimsical like JtV, kind of the opposite. It's dark and twisty and soapy in a fun way. More Passions of Santos than Jane the Virgin.

I'm liking the way Shiri plays Rachel. You can see just a glimmer of conscience so she's sympathetic, but the conscience hasn't won out yet, which makes her compelling.

I haven't read this book but how is the plot different from Looking for Alaska? Like, dream girl goes missing, earnest young man goes on a journey to find her, finds himself in the process, the end. (I'll be honest, I'm not the hugest John Green fan.)

SO EXCITED.

I'm in for this show. It feels just trashy enough to be a fun nighttime soap. And I've always like Shiri Appleby.

I love tomatoes, but those out-of-season pink pieces of cardboard are not tomatoes.

please no

Yes. Obviously the worst is them placing the blame for abuse on the female body, even a baby female body. But maybe second worst is the idea that all men and boys are by nature rapists and molesters.

The worst (maybe?) thing about this is that these teachings all work from the assumption that all teenage boys want to molest their baby sisters.

I'm kind of fascinated by this film's journey from Cannes to Lifetime, but it sounds so completely boring that I don't think it's worth watching.

January Jones

You were able to read the comments??? I got through a discussion of Quebecois French vs. French French and then Disqus stopped showing me new comments. Glad I missed the hysterical rage, though.

It's so weird to me that they've always been compared. Despite being on the same network, they're entirely different shows that I love for entirely different reasons (that said, I love Mad Men more because I just do).

Harsh, man.

Boo Disqus forever!

This will get completely buried, but what a lovely review/recap, Mr. Teti. I'm glad they put you at the helm for this last half season.

Chauncey!! Someone around here wrote me a beautiful fan fiction about Chauncey last year (I'm so sorry I don't remember who it was, but whoever you were, I loved every moment). It involved Chauncey being rescued by a lovely gay couple who named him Mr. Darcy and loved him and took care of him for the rest of his days.

A perfect adjective for this episode.

Yep.
