I assumed the new guy was a pedophile or child predator… he moves around to avoid detection, may have had his hand cut by one of the kids during a struggle, dumped the bodies.
I would be 100% sure if the show hadn't develop a fantasy bent in the last few eps, so it could go either way

The showrunner says they don't have binery sexuality in the future, so here's hoping they don't do another hetero triangle

I'd be willing to give them a pass with evil gay Kai, cause he would have been evil before becoming gay and the fact Josh on TO is gay and the polar opposite so there's variety.
They've had plenty of evil villains that a gay one wouldn't irk me out.

Maybe Kai absorbed his gayness (they do take on aspects of the loser) so they could kill off on but still keep the representation up.
