The Chase is interesting in that there was once a completely different version of the film. Penn's whole idea was to improvise most of the film. But before that, he'd always shoot the first few takes following the screenplay, as a sort of warm-up but with no intention of ever using those takes. When the studio got

I do not like this film. And no, it's not because of the whole naming-names-justification angle of it. I just find it heavy-handed and self-important. I feel Kazan can often tip over into making Stanley Kramer films with better acting and cinematography. This comes pretty close to that.

And frankly, I think discovering that "inauthentic" =/= mediocre can't help but be a position evolution in someone's thinking. Chicken parmesan or Sweet and Sour Pork or Burritos can be awesome and even innovative if done with care and integrity. I see no better way to combat the mediocre than pointing out when the

"Emeril also employs a number of people in his various restaurants and takes care of them in a way Bourdain respects"

I'd love to hear a behind-the-scenes account of that film. I'm willing to bet John Woo never had a chance of making something worthwhile there.

I also like Hard Target. There's still that bootleg director's cut which is a whole lot better and just begging to get an official release.

Jamie Foxx did at his VMAs stint 12 years ago. I'm sure it's been done before.

Enough snarky video game references… both One False Move and Devil in a Blue Dress are both fantastic films that should be seen by anyone who likes modern day noirish crime cinema. (Out of Time, sadly, doesn't belong alongside such company).

I disagree. The reputation of The Third Man as "the Great British Film" continues to bewilder me, as I wouldn't even put it in Reed's top 5 (the similar The Man Between is a better film in my eyes).

You're the reason why movies about fighting robots now last three hours.

In a similar vein, one hopes for watchable versions of Flaming Creatures and Jack Smith's films.

Leonard Pierce was once on Reading Rainbow…. yadda yadda yadda… you all know where this is going…

Alex Proyas directs and Kevin Pollack stars in Hulu's…. House of Pancakes!

Or if you want to use some other player/setup, just use DVD43 or some similar tool.

Oh god yes… the three joke monologue! After Leno's seemingly-endless set every night (alas, I was not raised in a Letterman household), I always thought it was a godsend that Conan got the low-hanging celebrity potshots out of the way quickly and just moved on with the show.

It's isn't just another action movie.. The last twenty three years of your life have been a lie.

And you and your fellow Bruce Willis fan "friend" have been together since.

Also, while not a translation, I wish someone would compile the complete words and letters of Michael O'Donoghue. His Lampoon and Spin pieces, his sketches (used or not) for SNL, his screenplays, and any other miscellanea.

One of the H.O.B.O.Ops segments has been censored, among a few other snips and cuts here and there.
