"OK pack your shit or better yet I'll send it to you, off to military boarding school, I'm done with this." Measured discipline is not my strong suit, which is why it's probably for the best that I don't have kids.

"OK, on a scale of 1 to 10, how ready do you think I am to let you use the car/hang with friends/etc"
2nd time, "how much do you suppose this room would rent for?"
I'd have to look up the reference to clarify, but as I recall, the original text was mistranslated as "virgin" instead of "young woman" many centuries ago. Now we have this shit. Even the people (yes, people with hearts and lungs who were born and died and all that shit) who wrote the bible were not that insanely…
Thanks for the last paragraph; I highly doubt the real numbers are that high. If so, fucking wow.
I hope that changes one day for you. Nothing wrong with avoiding commitment of course, but there are plenty of guys and girls and etc. out there who don't care one way or the other what junk you do or don't or used to have as long as you know how to work what you've got.
I hate this attitude so much. So you take a woman back to the room, find a surprise (your buddies probably knew all along and were snickering behind your back), politely bow out and take some jokes. "Lol you took the tranny back to the room lolololol!" is about as bad as it gets, and you learn to look a little closer…
Don't ignore the work that has been done before you, including bug-hunting and accounting for edge cases. For example, I can't count how many shitty date implementations I've seen in languages that have a very robust built in DATE function.
Agreed. It really depends on the tool. For example I would let my neighbor borrow hand tools or light power tools over a weekend because if I'm in a pinch and he flakes out or damages it I can use my crappy one until he replaces or repays me for the good one. Easily lost or wear/tear items I have a backup somewhere…
If you've got a pro friend with a tool you need, it might be better to ask if he can help you out on your project or show you how he uses the tool in question, and if there are any gotchas that could damage the tool or something else.
Very true, but multi-layered safety is better. I wouldn't bet my life solely on a $6 mass-produced kit.
Wow that is horrible. Mental issues, even seemingly benign ones like depression, are so often conflated with weakness that people genuinely think they are doing good by treating the afflicted person as if nothing is wrong, or with a firm shoulder pat "I'm here for you buddy." If someone was in bed with flu symptoms…
"One attorney ... would appeal any cat decision on the question of whether a cat is capable of love."
I don't know any of the details myself, but it looks on the surface like the cops made a bad call. My understanding is that in most places, a family member just needs to sign an affidavit that the person is a danger to himself or others and that results in an automatic 72-hour observation. That he ESCAPED from the…
Instead of praying, maybe see if you can help out your local mental health clinic* financially or otherwise, and make an effort to spread awareness that mental disorders are very real and affect a lot of people and families instead of making or allowing others to make tasteless jokes about it. Actions > Thoughts
Not that one needs an excuse to prance around in heels, of course
Aisha Tyler *swoon*
This article comes a few months too late for those of us who are large men with interesting Halloween costumes
I'm vaguely familiar with RAs and what they do, but I lived off campus when I was in college so have no personal experience. Are there any consequences or accountability for being an RA and not doing your job well? Does that position come with any payment or perk apart from free rent?
