Common pitfall - it can't be so terrible as to be laughable though. It should be framed like a more tactful version of "every dummy who doesn't know or care goes this route, but for the high caliber of yourself and/or your project these other options are better"

Or in the true sense of the word, as in jaw-dropping and awe-inspiring in both its atrocity and its acceptance by so many "good" people

Re: Options I totally agree and use it all the time.

I feel very vanilla and boring but I'm 100% in agreement. Any number of terms to refer to a non-sexy vagina, usually one that is in need of some type of medical treatment - cho-cha, vaj, etc. or maybe even "vagina."

OK perhaps. I admit to possibly being out of the loop, as the jobs I've had over the past 10 years or so have been by referral and/or "hey are you hiring because I'm pretty good at this stuff." All I've got to go on are anecdotes from friends who struggle to get past out of touch HR departments that require a BA/BS in

I believe that. Both of those cities are on the far southern edge of Alaska and close to that Pacific water which keeps it more temperate. Get inside the state a couple hundred miles and it changes pretty quick. For example Fairbanks is a rough place to be if you don't love the cold.

I thought I was being very obvious in my sarcasm, but apparently not. Yes, I agree that insulation on the edges of a door is required to keep hot or cold air from getting past, regardless of the continent in which the door is located.

You may have missed the implied /sarcasm tag in my post; steps of course do not present an obstacle to cold air. But in the spirit of argument and without doing any research, I would guess that the average temperature in Europe across all locales is noticeably lower than the average temperature in the United States.

That is true, but not for high-paying jobs (in excess of say $60K) that I've seen. Entry-level positions, sure that is common. I'm not saying that's a valid practice that will result in better employees, but it's the reality in most HR departments.

Is the lawnmower worth more than $500 after the summer is over? If not, then it's a business expense (a smart one, if it allowed you to make $4500 profit). I'm using what I consider to be a strict definition of investment, not the nebulous "investment in my future" definition.

Thanks for this. I've been preaching the validity of vo-techs for a while to kids that aren't sure about 4-year colleges.

Bill Gates! Mark Zuckerberg! Larry Ellison! Nate Bennett!

Not sure what you mean by "most" when talking about high-paying jobs where you don't already have someone on the inside vouching for you.

On a second reading, I suppose you could have a small step in front of the door and attach a piece of weather strip to it, so that when the door shuts (hinges to the inside of the house of course) it snugs up against it. But I bet a shit load of people stub their toes or trip walking out of such doors, which, I

I didn't watch the whole video, but the only non-standard tool I noticed was a router. And no, I think that most people who aren't professional woodworkers or serious hobbyists do not have this tool. The only others I saw were a hammer, screwdriver etc which I would consider a basic part of anyone's home kit.

Cold air sinks, so if you dig a hole in front of your door and have steps to get in and out, the cold air doesn't get in! Physics! Hehe I'm a smug [pretend?] European and am not aware that many building codes for new construction & renovations in the US require exactly the things I described re: insulation & windows.

Also for capital punishment of convicted criminals (sadly not always guilty, different discussion) vs "innocent" babies, Original Sin is fun topic to troll around on, along with God being the judge of man, etc. Even if religion is considered to be a valid reason for deciding where one falls on abortion, it's trivial

The fastest way to shut most of them up in my experience is to challenge the notion that they are indeed pro-LIFE - as in capital punishment, commercial slaughterhouses for animals, etc. until I get to the point where I can point out that they are simply anti-abortion for no consistent or defensible reason, usually

Thanks for that clarification. I thought late-term abortion was already illegal in most places, but that critical 20-23-week window is news to me.

Re: youth group, that is most definitely a thing. Lots of pretending (or even seriousness, *shudder*) on the part of some of the much older and much younger kids, but all of us in the 10th-12th grade where there strictly for smoking, drinking, dry humping, making out, and an occasional awkward BJ. And of course,
