Nope. It's barely worth it when doing a projection screen, and you've really got to have a purpose built theater with specific viewing angles/distances to be able to realize any advantage from it.

Yes, those of us who primarily watch movies for starters.

That might be true on some of the cheaper models, but the ones with a little more video processing awesomeness have looked good to me with motion.

Unless you're sitting kind of close to that 80" you're wasting money on that curve. Maybe spring for a projector? Custom size image!

Unfortunately most of the better-performing TVs come with some "smart" feature set. There aren't many good TVs without it, even though it's useless. Kind of like 3D.

Be sure that the model is identical. Some retailers like Best Buy and Sam's will get TVs that are identical in hardware but the model number is different by 1 digit (e.g. 75F9000 vs 75F90003) which they don't have to price match.

120+ is good for live action content such as sports and games, and lends a "soap opera" effect which can look weird depending on the content. The drawback is that there are some sets where even if you turn that feature off it is still visible, which destroys movies. You've got to see it in person to know for sure if

The only one I'm aware of is Sony's FMPX10 which has a few dozen movies, and it allegedly can work with non-Sony TVs but I haven't seen proof of that. Sony says it only works on Sony TVs so I'm going with that.

Then prepare to be super pissed, that shit happens every year. I expanded on this in another comment thread here, but I'm waiting until more 4K players are available and proven to not have compatibility issues. That would piss me off even more than having an "old" TV.

I didn't look at the specifics, but a lot of times an individual retailer will have identical hardware to another but with different model numbers so they don't have to price match

1. Make sure it's big enough to be immersive and enjoyable. The single most common complaint I hear from people buying a new TV is that they wish they got a size up.

Sure it could be - the benefit of 4K by itself is largely dependent on how far away you are sitting. Go to a showroom and have a look around before BF and see if you can notice a difference with native 4K as well as 1080p content on a 4K display, because the latter is most of what you'll be watching for the next

If you're using it as a computer monitor and/or sitting pretty close (e.g. foot of your bed) then maybe - depending on the model & content you might get better color gradations and things like that, even if you can't specifically see the better resolution. For typical TV viewing no.

You can watch cable news segments online for free (and even find better and more informative sources of news), you can watch Disney and History channel content in any number of places online or on disc, ESPN sucks a donkey dick and if you are on the "family" bandwagon you have no business supporting them anyway. Not

Came here to say Just Mayo is awesome - I have hated real mayonnaise for many years and got turned on to JM this summer. I don't care if it's made from unicorn cum, that shit is delicious.

And here I thought South Korea was the good one

Anyone planning on putting in a theater or something like that in an urban area should take note that there is likely someone else's basement adjacent to yours, and you have a good opportunity to plan for acoustic isolation while everything is still open. Bass vibrations travel really well underground (scientific

Statistics is a helluva thing. Having lived in the rural (and not so rural) South and Midwest, and also in NYC, I would rank NYC as far and away the hardest place to live. In the rural spots it take some work, but you can find ways to cut back and be self-sufficient in a way that is just not possible in any of the 5

Excellent movie and stands the test of time. I'm neither here nor there about Ariel as a character, but she's solid and there is greatness all around her too. Jodi Benson (Ariel's voice) really hit it out the park. That said, "poor unfortunate souls" is my favorite song from this movie.
