Was your door metal? If so, I doubt they did anything specific to stop it and it simply acted as a barrier to the radio waves. Which could still pose a problem for a wooden door or a shelf positioned in a way that the door doesn’t stop. Although I suppose with the right antennas they could make work. Or something…
