I haven't read any of Shepherd's work, but it sounds rather derivative. Her books seem to be imitating the worlds of Austen, Dickens, and Doyle. It is possible to write a good book that is based on an old idea, but for it to be successful you have to do it better, or re-imagine details and make them your own.

She has a lot of 3's for her books on Goodreads. I didn't say she had horrible reviews before the HuffPo piece, but to me, rating a book 3 stars is the equivalent to giving it a "C" Grade. Average.

Her ratings are terrible now; prior to writing the article they were mediore at best (as I said above).

Maybe he's looking for inspiration while writing the screenplay for National Treasure 3: The Mystery of Martha Washington's Muff.

I'd be so tempted to reply, "Well if that's how things work then is it too late to return you to the womb until you develop a brain?"

the woman remarked, "I couldn't love someone I didn't give birth to,"

I didn't give two craps about Rex and Esther - he was brash and prone to overreacting, and she made so many stupid decisions I can't imagine the CIA hiring her for any type of position.

You say chasm, I say Earth's Vagina. Sure, it sucks blood in but that's because it's magical.

Don't forget this one:

I really enjoyed the first two series as well as the third (Children of Earth), but I am not crazy about Miracle Day.

IIRC, he used a British accent for Torchwood.
