Once upon a time my BF took in a stray white kitten. His roommate kept calling the kitty "8 Ball" and the name stuck. He knew that his parents would ask why he chose the name but he didn't want to explain the meaning, so he told them the cat's name was Buddy. After about five years we finally told them the truth.
