Thing is that Williams is classically trained. So is John Powell, Desplat and Giacchino (to an extent - I think?). Too many film composers don't have that background since anyone can start composing with a keyboard and a PC. The art of orchestration is pretty rare in film music these days. It's not all the composers

British and American POWs were largely treated well, especially if you were in the Air Force. Not so much if you were a Soviet…

Thing is, Giacchino *is* one of those guys writing tunes. But, no, he doesn't have the gift that a John Williams/Morricone/Goldsmith had. He's a talented guy, but there is something missing from his thematic output that's hard to put your finger on.

Giacchino did half a dozen Medal of Honor scores and they're all pretty good to great. Recommended if anyone hasn't heard them.

Well Giacchino also did both scores. Composers often do riffs on their own tunes. FWIW I don't think that is that blatant an example.

Not to mention stuff like James Horner's score to Aliens. "Bishop's Countdown" was literally written overnight. The schedules for film composers has always been nuts.

His name was Yang Kyoungjong.

I don't think history has forgotten the Japanese atrocities at all Certainly not the British, Canadian, Australian and American POWs. And sure has hell not the Chinese (just to name a few).

Well if they had won the Nazis would likely have left them alone for a while. Hitler's long term plan was to repopulate their newly acquired Lebensraum ('living space') in Russia with his Aryan/Germanic folk, and exterminate all the Bolsheviks who weren't pure enough to be assimilated. I don't think he was bent on

Did you read that in Beevor's Second World War? I think he opened with it.

Honestly for a long time I didn't thing Costner even attempted an accent. On a few words, *something* is going on. But on the whole I just though he didn't try.

Have you seen American food?

To quote Eleanor from The Good Place, "Fork This".

And Chris Nolan. Who can still do more or less whatever he wants.

Give his Three Musketeers score a whirl as well if you haven't. It's essentially a sequel score to Prince of Thieves. Same sounds. Bunch of great tunes.

"Time" was more or less a variation on the (superior) "Chevaliers De Sangreal" track from Da Vinici Code which I think you are referring to anyway, so I guess it's apt to use it as a temp.

Mockingbird. Littlefinger has a giant Mockingbird.

It's a 2000s riff on The Graduate, but it's a nice movie. Don't get the backlash.

I fucking love The Core despite (and because of) how dumb it is, and 90% of that is because of Tucci.
