I'm so behind. Thank gawd I have Lindy to keep me informed.
Wait, KENNETH BRANAGH directed Thor? Why was it so crappy then? I AM SO CONFUSED. Does Kenneth Branagh just not care anymore? Whoa. My mind is slightly blown.
Robin Williams got old. Which makes me feel old.
That was my first thought, too—wanna take bets on how soon someone will take one apart to see?
Your mother is a smart lady.
Or y'know, maybe different strokes for different folks, and marriage is about different things for some people.
I love everything about this story.
I've always said that if I live with a partner, I want this. It just makes sense.
Damn, lady. Now I have to reiterate my earlier comment, but in all caps:
FUCK YEAH to you for surviving and thriving!
Why hasn't some smart techie programmer person designed a web browser extension that would automatically hide all pictures of Donald Trump's hideously horrid face? I mean, I can't be the only person who would pay for that, right?
In case you haven't already read it, I highly recommend Staci Haines' book Healing Sex (it used to be called The Survivor's Guide to Sex). Unlike some previous resources on intimacy after abuse/assault, it's completely non-judgmental and focused on triggers, boundaries, consent, and staying present. So, so helpful.
I don't know her exact sources, but:
I hear again and again from survivors that the mental/psychological abuse is the worst, because most physical abuse heals, but it's the psychological and emotional manipulation and abuse that takes much longer to recover from and deal with.
Excellent summary!
Depends. It definitely goes into specific detail about BDSM and porn scenes, but like Katie said, there are no pictures or videos.
I guess maybe for folks who aren't super-familiar with BDSM, it's an okay piece? It's not really judgmental, but the author also seems to want to make it clear that she's not a part of that world. I dunno, I quickly got bored reading it. It was hard to tell what the point or theme of the piece was.
By nature, you can't partner with someone like Glenn Beck and ignore the politics, y'know? I mean, I get kinda what they were thinking: hey, an opportunity to raise awareness about DV among conservatives! But...y'know, there's intersectionality and all; and he's quite honestly an actual nutjob; and if I remember…
Interestingly, Glenn Beck came out with a book a few years ago about his experience of his mother's abuse by his father.
Jeezus H Christ. That's basically every single damn day for SIX MONTHS (especially because hi, travel is also tiring). Her contract or her team or whoever allowed this to happen is an idiot jerkface.
