Dear Kiernan Shipka,
EXACTLY. Also the hand on the small of the back—no. NONONONONO.
TOTALLY. I still don't understand why I'm supposed to care about the Upton one.
Or, y'know, you're willing to be a lawless criminal and find a free streaming site.
Literal LOLs. Those things were EXPENSIVE. It took me forever to convince my family to buy me just one (they could afford to buy one, they're just very practical, small-town MN types who couldn't justify the expense).
90s kid. It's what you grew up remembering in your childhood.
You speak the truth. I remember wanting one SO BAD but my parents wouldn't shell out the money (don't blame 'em, now), but someone gave me a homemade version that was just not the same. I finally got a Spanish CPK who came with a passport, and I promptly renamed her Samantha Josephine so I could nickname her Sammy…
yeah...I've been vegetarian for years, but with the very occasional bacon relapse (maybe once a year or so). But then I saw a video of a piggy doing an agility course and I just could not anymore. I mean, yes, it's delicious, but also very smart and ridiculously adorable jumping through those hoops.
What is this magical place where there are capybaras, baby deers, AND puppies?!?!
Trick: dunk your fingers in a bowl of ice-cold water. Totally works, at least for regular nailpolish; I haven't tried it with any of the glitters or special effects polishes.
As a former Minnesotan, she makes my heart hurt. And long for saner, more Wellstonian times.
This was a surprise to no one who actually bothered to pay attention to the posts. Especially when she very occasionally posted items that were questionably sexist—her default answer was always "I'm a woman and *I* think it's okay so that's that!"
Well, her Twitter feed seems to be showing some guys steppin' up: https://twitter.com/adriarichards
It is just a shit-storm of misogyny over on the SendGrid Facebook page. A sadly stereotypical men vs. women shitstorm. Where the fuck are the male allies steppin' up?
God bless Mykki Blanco and his queer, queer ways. ♥
I hear you. I think the reason I push back against that is because people have literally (no, really: literally) been decrying the downfall of the English language for hundreds of years. I'm trying to figure out the line between "hey, language conventions change over time" vs. "hey, we can no longer understand what…
Hmm, in re-reading the sentence, it's possible that she was using "vile" intentionally in an unconventional way. Goddess bless the evolution of language.
Great post, possible-new-Jez-writer!
It's a BLOG. Nothing about blogs says "formal" to me. I mean, I, too, love the glories of capitalization and whatnot, but it's not particularly mourn-worthy when it comes to blogs and other kinds of informal writing.
