Being extra stupid today. Do MOST retailers do this? Shocked so I must be old. Waiter/waitressing in bars was awesome when I was a young-un. The pay was crap, but the tips? Pretty damn good. Plus (if lucky) no kitchen and no kids.

Back in the day, they'd call to see if you could 'cover.' But I don't think anyone got fired for just saying "No."(although likely loss of precious management appreciation). Sometimes it was good to get the work. As a policy? Heinous.

I wasn’t even thinking about the typical ‘upkeep’ women have to pay for. These ladies must have to spend fortunes on everything from special diets to personal trainers and god knows what else so that they can continue to qualify as ‘appealing’ enough to pull in that hungry-gaze male audience. Cha-Ching!
