-Is 31.

Professional cycle races have been kind of a sham since 1934, when they banned recumbents. That ban has stunted bicycle technology evolution and mass availability of recumbents for over 80 years now.

Even without a title (and the requisite running around required to get one), this is NP all day long. A unique, one-of-a-kind three-axled pickup with a manual transmission that runs and drives. For 700 bones. Yes please.

This article makes me miss my XJ. :(

Just means that VW cheated really well.

Not gonna lie, with everything taken off, that Jeep is pretty badass.

No alarms? These guys spent a full half hour stealing cars and no police response?

At least this can actually do something that existing aircraft can’t

Yeah I have no dog in this fight. My lowest powered car put down 75hp to the rear wheels. :(

With a CVT, gasoline reciprocating piston engines make very little sense. Diesels and perhaps gas turbines are more efficient, when you have a transmission which can keep the engine in a narrow but high efficiency power band.

Having never financed a vehicle and almost always doing my own repairs, I usually find it cheaper to repair an old car than to buy another car, even if it’s major work. $500 for a new stainless cat back exhaust? That’s two payments on a new economy car, and that exhaust will last 10 years even in the rust belt. A LOT

Brilliance.

There’s an entire class dedicated to mostly-stock VW Type 1s in the Baja 500/1000. If that doesn’t speak to their rugged nature, I don’t know what does.

Now playing

It’s also the only car I know of where you can change the one belt on it in 5 seconds while the engine is running.

Do yourself a favor and get a tube of this:

This is truth.

I’d submit that a VW Type 1 (old Beetle) would be very suitable for the undeveloped world. I’d also give a WWII spec Jeep a pass.

The curves don’t have to be perfect geometric arcs, from what I understand with auto-x, it’s more about having a consistent course than a very specific layout. Attach a rolling dry line marker to a riding mower or ATV and you’d have a course drawn up in an hour or less.
