Indeed... reliability and life of service has come a long way. When I was a kid, 100K was considered nearing end of life, now 200K is easily achievable with good maintenance.

It was to either improve the EPA mpg rating, avoid the gas guzzler tax, or both.

When it is locked through this process the only way you can open the trunk is with the key because it disables the lever in the center console.

I’ve never seen another car that does anything similar.
