I’m surprised with all the praise this short is getting. It just seemed fine to me. A good promotion for the film, but not much more than that.

The animation (in contrast with the art, which is good) by itself is not very high quality. Additionally, the dubbing was bland and forgettable.

Moreover, if you want a sweet Japanese tattoo, you need to look underground and have some credentials [and also perhaps not be a westerner].

On another note, there are some tattooers in the USA that practice a neo-japanese/neo-irezumi style that is pretty badass.
