Just a heads up to anyone interested in these cameras: Make sure to buy the US version if you are located in the US. The (typically cheaper) Chinese versions ping the Xiaomi servers to check where in the world your camera is operating from and will refuse to work if it is not in China.

    Thanks! 👍🏽

This is really clever, though Google Voice transcripts mean that I pretty much never need to even listen to voicemails anymore.

You probably just saved my job sometime in the future.

I am quite familiar with how tricky this is because I am that person who is difficult to shop for!

Model X on the onramp the first time trying to bring it to the freeway. My older dd has some unfortunate shift points (typically shifting right before 60mph) so I have gotten into the habit of burying my foot to get up to speed with traffic.

I am... worried about the lack of an escape key. Software Engineer by trade here and using certain text editors require the use of the escape key (are all Apple engineers emacs users?)

Not sure if this counts, but I own a Xiaomi Mi WiFi Mini. 802.11AC router for ~$30 is crazy cheap. Comes with a mobile app, quirky features such as allowing people to log into the guest wifi using their WeChat, and a USB port to hook up some storage.

I was referencing non-sweetened Talking Rain (from what I recall, they use the oils of the fruits that they are flavoured against). I was not aware that it was a regional drink, which would explain why so many people I know who work for Microsoft drink it. I’m from California and we get (literal) truckloads of the

I have to be honest, I am both surprised and disappointed at the lack of mention of Talking Rain.

Before dropping $2 on this, can anyone confirm that the app caches locations/passwords offline so when I do land in [insert country other than my own] with no cell service, I will still be able to look up wifi info.

For those wondering, the RavPower can provide 100W, which is the most I’ve seen from these more portable powerbanks. That means, unlike the few other powerbanks with power outlets which are usually limited to around 80W, you should be able to power a Macbook Pro (85W draw) no problem.

I’m on the search for the perfect travel mechanical right now. At my desk I sport a Das Keyboard 4, so pretty much the same as this but with dedicated media keys/volume knob but no backlighting and I love it.

    Why? Because beer chemistry.

    +1 on this Brasso tip

Actually... yeah it is. Homes in desirable areas just don’t go below $1m in this area though. I had looked at getting a condo/townhome initially to save money, but with HOA going around $400/month, it made much more sense to move that $400 into the mortgage payments and buy a more expensive home.

As someone who lives in the Bay Area, it is almost always better to buy vs rent because of how morbidly expensive rent gets here (hello $3,907/month average rent in SF! https://www.rentjungle.com/average-rent-i…).

But as someone who’s made this mistake
