I’m willing to believe it. For all the talk of what current crash safety regulations do to car design I can’t find anything in the actual legislation and regulations about too much that has changed in the US over the past couple of decades. I’m sure I could have missed relevant things because the process of reading

With my very first car back in the 80s. 1974 Capri 2.8, four speed, headers, dual exhaust, all the emissions gear long gone so not a difficult engine to work on at all. It was idling rough and running somewhat poorly. Took it to an independent mechanic highly recommended by a family friend. He replaced the carb with a

Bringing what an airline pilot friend of mine jokingly called “The Airbus Trinity” to cars (and every facet of our lives it seems):

I would take the interior of the run-down 1977 240D my friend had over this EQS monstrosity. Seriously, if I was given a choice between driving that ancient, snail slow diesel and this thing (if I’m not allowed to sell the EQS and pocket the cash) I would rather drive the old Beruit taxi.

Speaking of desktop computers, I think the interior looks like someone took several years worth of magazine dream gaming PC builds and spread them all over the inside of the car.

I’m glad the sales are up so much and hope it isn’t just temporary. I don’t even like the Supra much myself and even the 2.0 is way out of my budget but if sports car sales keep declining there won’t be any for sale in the future. The BR-Z/86 getting renewed was a pleasant surprise and the new Z even more so. I

Lifting a front wheel looks cool too:

I can’t find that information but 2020 Supra sales are about double 2019. It could be that a lot of that comes from the 2.0 I guess. The Supra is now outselling the 86 and I would hazard a guess that it’s more profitable for both Toyota and the dealers.

I’ve seen boats that came off their trailers on the road myself but not one this big. Even the 30 foot inboard cabin cruiser I once saw at the end of a big white fiberglass streak on asphalt looked massive sitting there blocking one lane (fortunately it didn’t turn as it fell off and ground to a halt) but that would

Last time I was shopping for a new car (2018) the Toyota 86 was dropped from the list quickly because here in Canada a BR-Z with the equivalent trim level had an MSRP nearly $3,000 less. The Toyota badge ain’t worth $3K. Especially since the Toyota badge looks like a Venn diagram that’s been made to look like a

There was a contingent of the marketing department that wanted to accommodate the needs of concert harp players too but when they started talking the engineers and accountants just smacked them in their heads.

I was surprised too! Yes, it fit into the passenger seating area without much trouble. Not that I’ve had much need of taking it anywhere since Covid hit...

I was hoping the instruments right in front of the driver would remain mechanical analog instead of being turned into a screen and I don’t like the weird shifter on this automatic version... other than that I have no complaints at all.

Can you blame them? It often does just that.

Amen to that! The screen (something I don’t personally want but am resigned to the inevitability of their presence because of how many people do demand them) is nicely integrated and blended in.

“It’s like VW went out of their way to make the interior annoying”

The faux-forward control look I can take or leave (certainly makes it look distinctive, and I kind of like the lines but it doesn’t provide any extra useful space for a given overall length) but that narrowing of the bed behind the wheel arches is beyond stupid. It would make loading and unloading more difficult,

Well this is a first: prices for a vehicle go higher than anticipated and all the blame isn’t put on Boomers and Bring A Trailer.

I can picture in my minds eye the glare off that dashboard. I can also see the smears and fingerprints. This interior is terrible. The primary display in front of the driver is also doing that simulated analog format thing too. I find screens somehow enervating to look at for long periods of time in general but my

I agree. I think this is also what’s behind the notable lack of interest in EV’s with shorter range. The people who would have their needs largely met by a shorter range (and less expensive) EV are more likely to live somewhere that makes at home charging difficult or impossible. Without your own garage or driveway
