The idea of deliberately floating the tent is silly but I’ve spent enough time camping in rainy, soggy southwestern BC that I can see some practical advantage to a tent that’s waterproof from the bottom up as well as the top down. The high price and ridiculously high weight put it firmly back into the “silly” category

I’ve driven both and I have the same opinion. I love the way the 924 Turbos seem to accelerate harder and harder as they go faster and faster. That’s something I miss in today’s turbocharged cars. Sure, the lack of lag and flat power curve makes them easier to drive fast but there’s almost nowhere I can actually

I remember how my Dad and many, many friends and relatives smoked back in the 70s. Amazing that at one time I was just used to the clouds of smoke and didn’t really notice it at the time. When my Dad quit my migraines disappeared and my asthma almost completely cleared up too. Now if in a room with smokers for even a

Why? Well, though I’m not lusting after the Veloster N my personal experience with VW means I can’t bring myself to consider another one (except maybe a Type-1, 2 or KG...), the Civic Type-R, amazing car though it is, would feel like dressing up in a clown costume and the reliability records (and anecdotal evidence

I flew on WardAir back in the 80's a few times. Having recently flown from Vancouver to Heathrow in the center seat of a 787 I’ve been thinking wistfully of their 747's with the lounge upstairs, legroom and the steak served on real china plates. PanAm was a sad loss too.

Most areas have the hundred dollar hamburger... we’ve got the hundred dollar pie:-) I mostly fly gliders out of Hope but my club gets our maintenance done at YCW so I’ve had many a stop at the diner there.

“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master—that’s all.”

Any character seen in an episode of Captain Scarlet would have been better - at least they have the excuse of actually being marionettes.

Makes me wonder if Westjet will get desperate enough to try and take back the 737 they donated to the BCIT campus at YVR:-) (I was in one of the first AME-M classes to get our hands on it, back when the school was still in the old “Pray-While-Aloft” hangar).

I may go for something self propelled - that way I can tow the sailplane trailer when I go visit some desolate airfield that has great soaring conditions (and it seems like most of the places that are great for soaring are remote and desolate:-). Every now and then a beautiful Airstream or GMC from the 70's comes up

I dunno if “hero” is the right term. This is sort of like reading a story about a man’s heroic efforts to walk again... after he deliberately nailed his own feet to the floor.

Or ran over a child... something bad enough to make us all feel ashamed for being amused by the video.

You’re doing an admirable job explaining things but I get the feeling you may have more success trying to teach differential calculus to a frog.

That’s the optional “full-grain leather exterior trim” finish.

Ah! So if you layer coloured lines over a black and white picture the human eye sees colour? Colour me surprised!

Maybe... I was considering a TDI wagon as a replacement for my first Element. The one they brought out for a test drive was a DSG. About a half mile from the dealership it went into neutral, all the warning lights came on and we coasted to the shoulder. After a while trying shifting in and out of park, neutral and

“To lower our lender’s risk, we had to increase customer dissatisfaction”

My experience too. Independent shops were what made me learn to do my own work starting when I was 17. I knew nothing about automotive mechanical work when I got my first car but after dealing with a few highly recommended independent shops back then and being screwed (plug wire left off, adjusting the throttle cable

Thank the gods, I’ve long thought the only thing keeping the Corvette from perfection is that GM has never given it an Austin Allegro Quartic steering wheel.
