While I certainly understand that the way videogames “glorify” violence can make people uncomfortable, and there is absolutely some stuff worth unpacking there, this strikes me as completely ass-backwards.

If we have to have some kind of meaningless mind control inflicted upon our children (we don’t) perhaps we should revert to the mandatory (and modernly appropriate) salutes American children were forced to do in the 1930's.

Children shouldn’t be forced (or even expected... or dare I saw even allowed) to swear an oath, which is what the Pledge of Allegience is. We don’t let minors make contracts on their own because we say they’re not capable of making informed decisions, so why are we asking them to swear an oath?
