Back when I was working over at an Eikawa it seemed like some people were pretty concerned, but yes, it is overblown to a large degree.

The exclusivity model is paramount to the success of a system. OTherwise, you're buying the game system with a different logo on it. If the systems don't matter anymore then we all might as well start getting PC's.

It is a childish farce but it's what drives consoles to create games like Last of Us and Halo 4. Otherwise, there's no motivation for first party titles.... and if those do bad, we get Android machines next gen on behalf of all publishers.
