You're right on the movie side, but as for the tones and styles i would like to see a swamp thing from marvel or something without "we all have a thousand abilities and infinite power to destroy worlds" marvel has, one recent exception being Moon Knight as ahero without a bazillion superpowers.

Marvel and DC are Crossover whores as of now, it's not completely bad due to crossovers providing several writers and artists a chance to submit their point of view on some characters (some are great some aren't) but other than that ughhh, and you are right independent comics are so great nowadays.
