Excellent post. Hollywood needs more diversity everywhere, not just the acting fields. And like you said, it’s not just blacks. It’s women,, Latinos, Asians, Native Americans, etc. in all fields - writing, directing, producing, tech crews.

This is true, of course, but there are plenty of films made every year in which the race of the characters is completely irrelevant. At that point it falls to casting, and hollywood execs still don’t believe a non-white actor can sell tickets. It’s insane.

To be fair, Jamie Foxx played someone legendary. Even with his struggles, the film did a good job portraying Ray Charles as a well-rounded person who eventually triumphed over addiction. But for the rest...right on the money.
