When you have working dogs, it is pretty important to know specifically what you’re getting. To use your herding example, different herding breeds work differently. It can be difficult to manage two different styles (say, a border collie which tends to use more of a hard stare and heading off stock and a heeler which

I’m so very sorry that happened to you.

I think I land somewhere in the middle. My cats are undoubtedly child substitutes, since the chance of my having children is upsettingly slim. I love them, coddle them, put up with them wrecking the house and shoving me off my own bed. I spent a terrifying amount of money treating my previous cat for diabetes over the

Six foot tall and size 14 does not seem heavy to me?

I have been a size 4 all the way up to size 18. When I was heavy, people commented I had lots of muscle and big bones. When I am even an 8, people comment on how tiny I am. I was even given the nickname Teenie. In all honestly, I am desperate to go down to an 6-8 now (currently a 10-12). My knees are freaking

No issue with people treating dogs like family but this is creepy to me. Would you clone a child who had died? Also spending frigging £100,000 on a dog who, as a clone, is also probably going to die of a brain tumor in several years time.

Thank you.

Someone knocks at your door and three people are there. if you shut the door two will die. if you let them in you will die.

I am exceedingly honoured by your confidence.

The loss of a pet is devestating. Each loss will mean something to the person experiencing it. Don’t disenfranchise the grief of a person who is bereaved by the death of an animal. Particularly one childless, and not by choice.

I honestly think my dog, who is sweet and loving and gentle, provides more value to the world than the sort of person who would kick a dog out of spite is likely to, since even if one doesn’t see kicking dogs as evil in itself, the sort of people who abuse animals are also pretty likely to abuse their fellow humans.

We know too little about the repercussions of cloning, I find this whole thing morally wrong. Especially as 100,000’s of dogs are euth’d in the UK every year for want of homes. In the US it’s 2 million annually.

You are absolutely right - the loss of a pet versus the loss of a human are not equivalent, and people should not be making statements that say otherwise. It’s incredibly hurtful to the family and friends of the deceased person.

And what is the basis for that comment? Nothing that has been said here. Really out of line to say that to a woman who has just confessed to having been raped.

You make a lot of good points and as a life-long dog lover, I agree. I would point out one difference between losing a pet and losing a chuld- life-span expectations. In the natural order of things and on a conscious and subconscious level, us dog lovers have to know that even the best-cared for, healthiest dog will

yeah at least they have their dog back from the dead. No more deaths ever for this dog. Going to outlive them.

The fact that there is nothing I can do about my neighbor who leaves her toy dog outside crying all the time is so infuriating. The lady shouldn’t be allowed to own a pet, but she’s not lighting it on fire, so it’s ok.

I fought against it for years, but now I’m right there with ya. Can’t fight the feeling lol. My cat travels with me, rides in the car when I run errands... It’s hard to think of him as “just a pet.”

True story: I’m 35 and just learned that “Wanna come over and watch a movie?” meant “Wanna come bang?” It explains why so many guys were really bored when they’d come over for movie night. I legit just wanted to watch a movie!

The dress was blue and black and anyone that says otherwise has never seen colors before.
