I am loath to defend the Greek system, but I’m not sure there’s a lot of proof here that there was actual blackface...if it turns up, I won’t be shocked, but I’m going to hold off on the outrage until then.

I didn’t see anyone in blackface in the newscast. I saw the girls dressed as gold miners (not blackface), and I saw a trio of girls, and I think they are either tanned or actually black. These are the same pictures which were on The Daily Bruin.

It’s pretty normal from mainstream acts too. Back before the internet when artists had to actually sell a physical album, having memorable cover art was pretty important.

she really doesn’t get out much if she thinks this cover changes the history of album covers. it might be mind-blowing for the top 40 in her genre, but this is “normal” for less mainstream acts. reminds me of a Massive Attack cover from 7 years ago.
