I love dogs but I don’t like people letting them wander all around up in people’s faces. I have short kids and I don’t want them bitten in the face.

Not everybody ranks people they love above people they don’t - I don’t. I love my family but they are no more objectively important than any other similar people. They are more important TO ME. But I am also not more important than any other person.

I actually agree with you that dogs are a more simpatico species with humans, but be careful, the Jezebel woods are full of cat people.......

I love my dog, but its like its an indulgence to myself to love him in a way. Like he is a luxury and a part of my privilege to live in a society where people can have pets who go to the groomers and the vet and live in nice houses and have soft warm beds and are never hungry.

I have a two year old dog and a two year old kid and the dog is delightful.

unfortunately due to the meat industry I don’t think much will change for animals, which sucks but it is what it is.

I dress my dog too. he genuinely seems to like it.

there is a really good documentary about purebred dogs where they show what fucking disasters that dog breeding has created in some breeds like the cavalier king Charles spaniel and how such a massive percent of them die horribly.

I was talking legally not morally or ethically. Legally animals are property, they cant own things, you cannot assault them, if they are hurt by someone then that person can be sued for property damage in a civil court. There are animal cruelty laws protecting them but they aren’t legal persons.

I don’t think that makes you treating them less like animals though. Just loved animals. You aren’t elevating them above humans or equal to humans. my dog is currently next to me in a dog like way, lol.

Yes I have seen that happen and really hurt people. Someone loses a relative and then another person talks about how their cat also had cancer and died and you are like...
