I could see Damon knowing Marcel because in season 4 it was made known that he lived in NO in the 40s. I would love if he was the reason for the no killing Vampires rule.

With all the boos he was still heavily cheered and u can't be carried in a match past 2 minutes it takes two guys to make a match flow smoothly no matter who gets more offense, for example watch the tough enough finale u can only carry someone so far.
