I was just in the market for a 15 WRX. Like most people, I would have rather had the STi if I could swing the money. The plain WRX with the goodies I wanted came out to about 29, while the STi would be more like 36.

i would rage with you, but a few months ago, i rented a compact car on eexpedia for 30 odd doLlars. When i got to the airport they had a brand new cla 250 wiht 8 miles on it. I belive that was my good karma for getting jacked by rentals in the past; i hope you get something nice too in the near future.

That is the point. The ST is a great car. It is better than the GTi. The reviews say so. Owners say so. I drove both and I say so. In spite of that, people still pay a premium to get into the VW.

If the big 3 do make a product as good as thr Subie alternative, that fact is not represented in thier retained resale values

This guy gets it. A Dodge WRX fighter, even if it is better than the Subie, will face poor sales. Look at the Focus ST vs GTI —- even though the Ford outshines the VW in every single way, people prefer the VW. And this is assuming that Dodge will be able to make something better than the WRX, which is pretty bloody…

NP. They clearly took great care to ensure the car is lovely by using the best rental car Chrysler chassis. They could have cheapest out and used the PT Cruiser convertable as the donor ;)
