@bokscutter: ClearType is cool, but not what I'm looking for.

@eharp1126: No I'm talking about rendering. The way the fonts look. For example, 13 px Arial on Windows looks really different from the same on OS X. The former's fonts look crispier and sharper, while the latter renders them rather bolder.

Ok so I've the weirdest problem. I love the way the fonts are rendered on OS X, despite having never used OS myself. I want Windows to render fonts like that. Is there a way to do it? Currently, the only way I can enjoy OS X rendering on Windows is by using the Safari browser, which I'd happily use if it was worth

I always try to be on the 'bleeding edge' without bleeding too much, so I've been using the beta versions so far (which do not seem much ahead of the stable builds anyway). But now that they've got the Canary builds, I may just jump over to dev. I use Chrome as my main browser, so hopefully it won't crash much!

The stats about India are just plain outrageous. It says average broadband speed in India is 1.26 Mbps. In reality, it's more like 300-400 Kbps, which is anything but 'broadband'. I'd kill for a connection that provides constant unlimited 1 Mbps bandwidth at an affordable price. But no sir, you won't get one.

@abdelm: I've never used OS X, so no idea what works and what crashes. I just assumed Safari would be fluid, because it's Apple. :)

@CamJN: I'm talking about the day when the Safari extensions start maturing. Firefox add-ons are always going to be way more powerful as they make use of the native code stuff, but for most Safari extensions (which're more like Chrome's) should suffice. :)

I guess most Mac users will now go back to Safari, as it gets more and more useful extensions. Safari runs best of all browsers on OS X, and there'd little reason to use Firefox or even Chrome now. The extensions must start arriving, of course, and Apple needs to stay out of their way.

Can't Google Goggles help with this sort of things (finding about old tanks and all)?

I knew it since ages, and even my non-tech savvy friends show off Ctrl + Enter. But yeah, it's easy to miss tiny useful stuff like this.

My sister just got a Samsung N150 and is shipping it to me. I was totally thinking of going the Ubuntu-way, but this Jolicloud version looks so great (although hardware compatibility could be an issue)! You always get confused while choosing Linux!!

@xxdesmus: Really awesome tool . :)

Doesn't Firefox support it as well? I can drag and drop on my XP machine with Firefox 3.6.6.

I dare say Mint will have the biggest landslide victory in the history of LH Hive Five.

@gover57: It's not like I absolutely miss Segoe or anything - if there had been a legitimate way of getting it, I'd have gladly downloaded and used it. :)

That image you got there looks ridiculously like Times New Roman. I hope the new Ubuntu font is not gonna be like this. I personally install and use Google's Droid Sans font on Ubuntu. If Apple released their Lucida Grande or MS released Segoe UI for free (which they won't ever), I could be using one of those instead.

Is this a permanent change, or will Firefox revert back after an update?

This is what I've been looking for over 2 years. Once you screw up something in Ubuntu, how do you put things back in order?! EPIC thanks. :)

@Wabbited: @Maave: Thanks, I kind of get the idea now. It should be natural for VPN providers to charge money, since you'll be connecting to their servers and using it to browse instead. :)
