In their desire to place their own stamp on Star Trek they don’t seem to stop to think of should we change? It doesn’t feel like change is to actually make something better but born out of the arrogance of we have control of the franchise and we can do any damn thing we want to do.

I love the classic Universal monster movies so I’m there with you on this is not the sort of thing I wanted out of their crazy Dark Universe plan.

Last time I checked Batman chased Catwoman not Dogwoman. Thus cats must be superior and dogs must be inferior if one makes for a classic villain and the other isn’t even worth a superhero dealing with. 

Something shifted in our society so that while people could enjoy a character like Richie Rich in the 1950's the super wealthy and connected are almost an alien species compared to the daily struggle of those without access to insane wealth or privilege.

I was thinking oh like Legion where characters are mentioned from the wider X-Men universe that don’t actually have to show up in person on the show. Things get connected but not in any sort of way that would require movie actors to show up on the TV show or the TV actors to show up in the movies.

For some reason I keep hearing the Warner Brothers executives in the voice of Baldrick from Blackadder.

It’s Hollywood so if we were putting money on it I’d say they will set it in the US and all the parts will played by white actors. They will likely rewrite the film to take out the sake all together and come up with some sort of magical Mcguffin instead. Expect them to skip over the shots where nothing is going on but…

Maybe we will get lucky and it will be like Arrival. I think everyone got caught off guard by that one since they had to expand the number of theaters it was shown in after the release.
