Or just get faster trains. You don’t need high speed rail to improve transit speed. They avg like 80mph on tracks that can handle 120mph. I don’t think people will want to deal with airport parking, security, and baggage/whatever. Add that in on both sides and you’re back to 4hrs.

What about pure reliability? When I was 16, I put 60k miles on a Grand AM (2.4L V4) with a blown gasket, 3 working cylinders, and cracked/dried hoses. Yes, it’s from the wrong decade, but it will always be the best in my mind. I love an engine that can last.

If the vehicle is legal in Canada it’s incredibly simple to bring it to the US. Pretty much the same as a state to state buy.

I honestly have no idea if EU certificates are enough if you plan on importing a bunch and reselling them “new” vs importing one for personal use, or if it also would need formal US clearances as well. For the record, importing (new bought directly from) Lada to the US is covered under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA). This coverage is due to their also producing military vehicles for the Russian army, mostly SUV’s and ambulances.

You could theoretically buy a single vehicle used, and then import it for show. But, it would be near impossible to get one licensed as road worthy with US safety and smog standards.

Truly. In addition to the payment issues, it’s almost impossible to import new cars that don’t meet US safety and smog regulations. These are the issues plaguing Japanese tuner imports, which Jalopnik has converted in depth.
