I think his purchase price being a barrier comment is on a 35k+ automated electric car not a mitsubishi mirage or versa.

I dont mind them, I am kind of neutral on it but 12k is a deal. Sport package would be gravy on that making it look a little better.

thanks for the link

Like I said if you want and can afford a truck that is what you do, but nothing you have said makes sense. Extra parking spot, you said you are going to home depot and some dudes house for parts. at home folding 4x8 from harbor freight handles everything you said and can be placed in your garage or on the side of your

if you can find me a 2 year old prius for 12k let me know, that is an awesome price.

I just wanted to tag this onto the top post from his original plan,

So a honda fit with a trailer is what you need ?

Dude you have issues, most people drive 12000-16000 miles a year. Let’s say 16000 and then say that it is even across all weeks no long trips all year. That is 300 miles a week, so for 30 miles (10% or 15 miles each way in this round trip) of that they need to tow something that would not only deplete a battery pack

COTD here for the second part 250k give me an electric actuator to close the door

Sorry I meant 90% of the people who buy one never use it that way. Most consumer level trucks that aren’t fleet vehicles are just used as commuter cars. Also if you only use your truck as a truck for 10% of the time you own it you are better off buying something smaller more efficient and renting a truck for that 10%

I think it will be diesel electric hybrid, it won’t be fully electric just driven by electric motors. It may increase “MPG” but not be fully electric.

I still dont see this happening until 2100 or so, its not just the tech but the legal ramifications and regulatory compliance. Tesla could perfect the tech in ten years but the government will not allow it to deploy that quickly.

I’m in texas with deregulated power and multiple companies available, only 1 or 2 have plans that allow reverse metering and they dont actually buy back from what I have seen you just work your way back to a zero dollar bill. I dont have panels or one of those plans but I dont know how it works to get to zero if they

I hope that means old ford ranger sized

they already exist, his plan can work if he adapts his tech to existing vehicles partnering with an establish company instead of starting from zero. Same for making a car cheaper than the 3, partner with ford give them the electric powertrain for a focus the provide the f series (450 and up) and this makes both of

Frito lay has been using electric medium duty trucks for years now and I am in texas where everything is spread out far and wide. Change this to a city where there is a lot of stop and go and the electric delivery trucks make more sense. I agree long distance towing is probably a bit off for an all electric truck but

Biggest issue I have with the plan is the not needing a model under the 3. I do ok for myself and the combined household income is above average but I do not see myself getting a 35k car for any long time. This idea that the car will make you money while great is so far off in the future that neither Musk nor I will

like we all see everyday 90% of trucks are not used like trucks they are used like open air station wagons. Most of the time they are empty and one have one passenger

yeah but they were for the sake of messing with cafe numbers not a real effort towards making them a viable truck. If gm had pushed forward with more of their hybrid tech used in busses they could have done something more. Really we need an electric truck that functions like they claimed the original volt would.
