I'd love to see these younger buyers who can afford a $45k car. They can't even afford Scions, and everyone knows how much of a success that brand was.

Lancia. Top Gear was all over this a few years ago, but they've turned out some of the greatest and worst cars over the years. Too bad they're mostly re-badged Chryslers these days.

A big problem is that an old car would be "invisible" without some kind of RFID tag. And then you get into privacy concerns. True the government already requires registration but they don't have an active method of tracking your car in real time (or do they).
Radar cruise control... is the most maddening thing ever. Mandating it, and the related automatic braking, might well be enough to ensure I never buy a new car again, and that my stable continues to get older as I avoid that tech.
