Avril has annoyed me since Day One, so that she’s a “Christian rocker” now makes perfect sense. She exists to vex me!

I don’t know what Lorne got so pissed about.

I’m really fond of Jane Curtin, but she always seemed like an aunt rolling her eyes at the juvenile proceedings, since the beginning. Not a prob, just an observation. She’s still aces.

I liked Mary Gross.

Yes! These nutjobs seem like they’ve never been to Europe. It’s a dumb abstraction to justify their racism and prejudice. (And, y’know, fuck NBC for giving them a platform.)

Oh, wow, thanks for the kind words for my ramblings.. Appreciated!, and best to you. I’m well aware of the Sean/John translation, as I share my uncle’s name as well. :) My only fluster about it is that I grew up knowing him as “Uncle John”, but now he’s proudly a Seán.

This was all really fascinating, thank you.

Here’s how stupid these people are, trying to get people uniting under a “White European” identity. White or not, Europeans can barely stand each other. Classically, they like to do wars to each other, for centuries!

I agree that “excellent qualities” was a bit of a thoughtless overstatement on my part, and gives Margaret too much credit.

I really liked Sean O’Neal’s article consdidering Enya, and “Orinoco Flow”. Because it’s actually a fucking great bit of orchestration and music, tremendously pleasant. And it came about because, very much like Kate Bush with her masterpiece Hounds of Love three years earlier in 1985, Enya is a a shy and reclusive

Apologies- that should have been, “highly likely she had a Native American ancestor anywhere from six to ten generations back.”

Well said. Respectfully to Arnheim, when he says, “ If your skillset has been usurped by machines—and you have the capacity (financial, intellectual, and time-wise), then it’s on you to learn new skills to remain competitive.”

Me too. I think Vulture’s a good fit for him, a prominent position (as part of New York magazine). Hope he writes tons for them. Even if it’s a bit more mainstream, and the sardonicism that he took to an avant-garde level here might be toned down.. we’ll see.

The esteemed geneticist who blind-tested Warren’s DNA estimated that it is highly likely she had a Native American ancestor anywhere from six to generations back. That is a more useful way to picture it fairly, because when I see people repeating “1/1064th” it’s clearly meant to disparage Warren.

What a bellend.

Agree, agree. WaPo has been getting positive attention in recent times, especially compared to the NYT’s blunders and incomprehensible choices and roster of truly awful columnists. But much like DC itself, WaPo has always been wired for Republicans. For all the flaws of the Times, which are many, I still prefer it

Years ago, Spy magazine had an item about Leslie Stahl and her toughness. She was filming with a camera crew on a windy day, and her skirt gusted up. She said “Whoo! Almost gave you fellas a thrill there!” and a cameraman replied, “Don’t worry Leslie, we’ve seen your balls.”

You are ON MY DICK so hard. Your mom is embarrassed that you’re the sort of pathetic internet person who badgers people. Because you’re a badly unhappy person, Nilus. I hope you find peace and fulfillment in your life, because being dumb and mean on the internet is clearly not working out for you. Be better.

Thanks, idiot.
