Part of the problem, and part of the reason why I don’t think esports in their current incarnation will ever become truly big, is that nobody owns traditional sports. Nobody owns football or basketball or baseball. Sure, somebody makes money of people playing them - namely those who craft the equipment that’s used -

Somebody added something, and that something was the thing that put it beyond the capability of the current design. Trust me - just be glad somebody listened to the engineers before production  on this one.

When I first heard they were putting ads in the game I figured “eh, they’ll be on the loading screens, or maaaaybe on in stage billboards, like a nod to the old “fake brand” advertisements you used to see in arcade games (ie racing games), but with real ads, It’ll be a bit tacky but eh, how bad can it be?”

Good lord, when I first heard about the in-game ads I thought “meh, I’m sure they at least put thought into making them aesthetically appealing.” Nope, I was wrong, they’re just whoring out their franchise’s beloved characters in haphazard and thoughtless ways. Who the fuck is gonna be sold by any of this, advertising

If there was no article on it, I would have thought so. The Pro Tour icon looks so out of place on all these characters. It’s not aliased the same, is more detailed, and doesn’t conform to any of the costumes and places it has been pasted on.

All these are.. bad photoshop mockups, right?

Reckless or downright negligent? So... exactly like the auto industry at large, since forever?

^ This is a good point that I neglected to mention. Thanks!

The reason they don’t let you switch characters between matches is because you have separate rankings per character which matchmaking supposedly takes into effect...except it clearly doesn’t because it just throws random people into random matches together.

That’s a good point, I did indeed totally forget about Wasteland last night. Which means I guess games... games never change? :D

I for one believe him, when he says he didn’t mean any offense. It’s not like I know the guy, so when in doubt, I believe.

Look, the notion of telling people what’s changed in a game when you patch it is not exactly brain surgery..

Disagree.  It’s not just the cost to keep GM running, you have to consider the effects that loss of employment would have on the greater economy.  GM going bankrupt would have cost the economy a ton more then the cost to keep it up and running.

“In fact, pretty much 100% of the money spent on GM would have been better spent on R&D. More tax payers would have gotten more benefit from it than from GM still running.”

Your take is “actually” the correct take. Some businesses and jobs cannot be saved in order to maintain the viability of the rest. We can try to blame evil corporations and greedy shareholders (which are both often legitimate gripes) but sometimes it comes down to a simple reduced demand = necessary job cuts to keep

I love how a lot of these young YouTubers act shocked at their videos being used as evidence against them.

Scary stuff when video evidence of you committing a crime can be used against you. What’s next, can anything I say be used against me, too?!

That’s because it was never about anyone other than the people at the top. Those types of provisions were not ever meant to be added. The path they took wasn’t dumb, it was planned.

Neutral: Fuck that! I hate GM, I never support them, but in this issue I have to. Keep a plant open to appease congress and build what exactly? The plants being shuttered build products that arent being bought, but they’re expected to keep building those products and just not sell them. Well they could just retool the
