Of course, but that’s still the unit price (and, generally, smaller quantities have higher unit prices). So proportionately, the smaller quantity of true maple would still be 5-15x as expensive as the maple-flavored-corn-syurp.

That’s fair, if you can get it into the roof rack (and protect it somehow) then it’s probably a net win at that price point. I mean, the hot battery swap is likely much more practical, but possibly the panel would at least get you another couple miles.
While I agree with you 100% from a taste prospective, actual maple syrup costs somewhere around $45/gallon (it varies _wildly_ by state, with Vermont the cheapest at around $25/gallon and Connecticut the most expensive at $76/gallon). Compare this to your average “maple flavored topping” or whatever they’re legally…
Again, 150w is in _the most ideal conditions_. I.E. perfect sunshine, panels perfectly aligned to perfect sunshine. Not really how a car will work :) Also really the max power draw from the motor doesn’t matter. It’s average power draw over distance traveled that matters. I imagine that’s actually pretty close to the…
Sure, but I’m still quite positive that without careful aerodynamic integration into the roof, it will be a net negative. You’d probably be better off having some kind of charging rig that folded up and went into the internal cargo area, and then deploy it when you’re parked.
It will 100% decrease the range. Even in the most optimal conditions, the most efficient modern solar panels can only scavenge about 150W/m^2, and I’d be surprised if you could even fit that much surface area on top. For comparison, your mains power on a normal 120v circuit can pump up 1.5kW, or 10x that amount.
The range spread isn’t that surprising given its horsepower to weight ratio. On flat ground it takes very little power to keep the thing moving. But on anything resembling a hill, as you found out, you need to have it basically floored to maintain speed, forget accelerate.
I mean, a 360 is only (relative to its original MSRP) a $60,000 car these days. And the RX-7 could have been expensive, or very, very cheap depending on when it was bought. Certainly a couple hundred bucks for time and labor would be reasonable, but it’s not really fair to assume the guy is loaded based on owning…
I would assume “technically complex” means a large moveset with extremely specific situational uses for each move, independent of difficulty of performing each move. Whereas “technically difficult” means each move is hard to perform (complex button combos/timing requirements), independent of number of moves.
Sure. I’m not at all saying they’re bad or dangerous (at least, not any more than any other large carnivorous animal). Just that they’re objectively terrifying.
Some people may have bought the slightly updated version with the longer lasting battery. Some may have ditched the big boy for a Lite if it better fit their lifestyle. Some might just not it any more and want to get some money back. Lots of reasons beyond hoarding.
But seriously. Orcas are fucking terrifying.
I mean, that’s a much higher energy density to peak power ratio than most Teslas. The lowest power long-range model 3 has a 75kWh battery and a 211kW motor, for 21.3 minutes of energy at full power. This has a 1kWh battery and a 1.2kW motor, for 50 minutes of energy at full power.
They’re only getting around it because they aren’t a target the size of nVidia. If they get big enough, I promise the same ban-hammer will drop on them.
I mean, yes, that’s exactly what nVidia hoped would happen. People would buy games they otherwise couldn’t run on their machines to stream them from nVidia’s cloud.
I agree with you about missing Kinect for everything not-game-related it did. Fortunately Xbox is compatible with Alexa and Google Home, so you can get some rudimentary functionality that way.
Yes, but the console Kinect used a non-standard connection which was omitted from the Xbox One S and X to save costs. They could support the USB PC Kinect, but that’s probably not what most people have laying around their room.
Having detection be frame based is still super, super common. That’s not the same thing as having it be CPU speed based. It just means that the game is designed to run at a fixed target framerate. Nearly all the Souls games exhibit the same behavior you’ve described, for example. The key difference is that all modern…
Yeah, I agree, it’s kind of an odd take. “It’s bad because it’s expensive and serves no practical purpose.” I mean, that literally describes all luxury goods. $17,000 is the cost of a medium-grade luxury watch. Something whose actual purpose can be done infinitely better by a $5 quartz watch. That doesn’t mean the…
Executives (and especially their spouses and progeny) are also frequent targets of kidnapping and ransom attempts in many parts of the world. It’s not just dictators who want to be protected from external threats.
